It may be a little early to ask, but … how are you doing with your New Year's resolutions? Are you still on your diet? Are you exercising more and eating less? Have you stopped using your credit cards? Are you spending more time with God? Are you saving more money? Are you spending more time with your family? Are you watching less television?
Most of those well-intended resolutions have probably been broken (if not once, more than once) since the beginning of the new year.
One resolution that has lasted for all time is found in Jeremiah 29:11-13, "For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart".
God wants to bless us, but it is essential that we are willing to turn to Him in faithfulness, obedience, and repentance. He promises to listen to our prayers and our praises. And when we honor God in our hearts and lives and when we talk to Him through prayer, God promises to respond to us in His Word and with His blessing.
May your 2021 resolution be one of a stronger commitment to worship and Bible reading (and Bible study) to draw you closer to your God.
