As we look to next school year and a new school leader, we created a new position description for a Head of School. Is this different from a School Principal? Is it simply a title change or is it something more? While the Head of School position has many of the same responsibilities of a School Principal, there are some intentional differences too.
The new Head of School will be asked to balance managing the daily operations of the school with the strategic planning for the school’s future. He or she will place the utmost priority on the spiritual growth and academic achievement of St. John’s students, while focusing on these three areas:
Educator. Support and encourage the ongoing professional development of teachers, empowering them to provide the best instruction possible.
Executive. Oversee the daily operations of the school, including the business and financial matters.
Entrepreneur. Provide an innovative perspective in marketing, recruitment, and retention of students.
It may sound much like a School Principal job, but it is different. And it’s the leadership that our school needs as we move forward to a future filled with infinite possibilities.
If you have questions or thoughts about the Head of School position, let us know.
We ask for your continued prayers and support as we seek to find the person that God has selected as our new Head of School.
