What would you do with $50,000? It’s a great question for schools. How should we spend an extra $50,000 in our school?

Our 2021 Auction raised almost $70,000 with $50,000 designated for school resources and improvements. Like most non-profit organizations, there’s never enough money for our school to do everything we want to do. So, let’s dream. What should we do with this auction money?

We have some ideas: staffing, programs, capital improvements, and other school action plans. Some plans require money, some do not. Some require more money than others. Here’s a list of some “money” items we’ve accumulated in the past few months:

  • Invest in an endowment/scholarship fund for eligible students and families.

  • Give teachers and staff a salary increase or bonus.

  • Provide funds for teacher professional development.

  • Purchase new iPads, Chromebooks, or laptops for teachers and students.

  • Upgrade classroom TV’s and display technology.

  • Purchase new desks, tables, and chairs.

  • Install new windows for classrooms.

  • Upgrade restrooms.

  • Upgrade classroom HVAC systems.

  • Purchase new textbooks and other resources.

  • Offer more resource center services.

  • Add gifted program or foreign language.

What about you? If you were the decision-maker, where would you spend the extra $50,000 in our school? What are your “dreams” for our school?

We want to hear from you. Send your thoughts and ideas to David Florine at Prioritize some of the items listed above or add other ideas to our list. Let us know.
